NPP MPs To Boycott Mahama’s State Of The Nation Address.
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is scheduled to boycott the President’s State of the Nation address on Thursday.
The NPP is challenging the legitimacy of President John Dramani Mahama and has planned to boycott every event that is directly linked to him and also seeks to endorse his legitimacy as the President of the nation.
Speaking to Citi News, the Director of Communications for the NPP, Nana Akomea stated that the NPP’s move is part of their protest against the results that declared Mr. Mahama President.
“It is a very good decision. It is part of our protest against the results. All of us are acting legally; we haven’t stopped him from exercising his functions as President and it is also within our rights that it is legitimate to use the Parliamentary floor as protest.”
The NPP MPs have abstained from partaking in the Ministerial vetting By the Appointments Committee and also boycotted the inaugural ceremony of President Mahama.
