Stephen Appiah Heckled At Baba Yara.
Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah had a torrid time with security personnel at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday.
Appiah, one of the ex-footballers transported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the Ghana-Sudan World Cup qualifier, apparently failed to display his tag (accreditation).
The security personnel insisted he produce the tag, or he would not be allowed to enter the 155-seating capacity VIP stand.
An infuriated Appiah decided to walk away from the packed stadium.
However, former BBC broadcast journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and some personnel from the Ministry of Youth and Sports had to intervene for Appiah to rescind his decision.
Further checks into the matter revealed that the security personnel had no fore knowledge about who the victim actually was.
Appiah later joined a host of former Black Stars players like Sammy Osei Kuffuor, C.K. Akunnor, Augustine Arhinful, among others to watch the Black Stars demolish their Sudanese counterparts 4-0 in their Group D World Cup qualifier.
Appiah led the Stars to two successive World Cups, 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa.
