Unilever Ghana To Export Lipton To 7 African Countries.
Unilever Ghana is set to exporting one of its products, Lipton to about seven African countries following the commissioning of a Lipton Tea Factory in Tema.
The countries include, Cote D’ivore, Togo, Mali, Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger.
The GHC 7million project is expected to create employment for some skilled technicians and operators and also directly employ thousand in distribution.
With a current consumption rate of 600 tonnes, the management of Unilever is optimistic of a production output of 1000 tonnes per annum.
The Managing Director, David Mureithi told Citi Business News, his outfit is hopeful of an increased market share.
“We expect that we will have lower production costs because of producing locally; we also expect to start exporting and this will no doubt increase our top-line in terms of sales through the exports as well as the profitability by allowing us to produce at lower cost.”
Lipton Tea is sustainably sourced from Kenya in line with the vision of Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan to develop new ways of doing business to enable the company double the size of the business whiles reducing the environmental impact of their operations.
