CHAN- Ghana Beats Congo
The team, which is coached by Maxwell Konadu, was placed under heavy pressure from the Red Devils of Congo in the first ten minutes, but a breakthrough could not be found either down to poor finishing or gritty defending.
Ghana came into the game after about fifteen minutes and began finding routes down the right channel manned by Aduana full back, Godfred Saka, and Kotoko winger Richard Mpong but they were also guilty of putting their chances away.
Forward Yahya Mohammed had a busy first half dealing with the Congolese defence, but he also could not score when he had his chances.
The opening goal came through when a quick counter found Mohammed, who in turn released Annobah down his left but the winger moved in to shoot. His attempt was closed won by the Congolese defence, but the ball bounced off his legs and looped in over Gildas Kiwoko Mouyaki, who was in post for Congo Brazzaville.
The score remained the same until half time and into the second half where there was not a lot of action except a few chances for Ghana which were not taken due to hesitation and indecision.
Congo also had some chances but their shooting was well off target.
Ghana will play against Libya on the 17th of January in the second group D game of the tournament.
