The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will need an amount of GHC 686,900 to organise its National delegates congress scheduled for March 1, 2014.

According to the budget which is to be submitted at NPP executive council meeting later on Tuesday, the existing funds identified for the event comes from National Executive sources and arrears from MPs contributions.
There have been news reports alleging that the party is broke and might not be able to organise a successful congress.
The General Secretary of the party, George Owusu Afriyie has also reportedly told the supporters that the only way the party can afford to organise a congress will be to decentralise the process.
The NPP has a tradition where all the delegates converge on one venue for their national congress but the cost of this year’s congress has become the source of controversy for the party.
