Nollywood-Ghollywood Match: Ghana 3- 1 Nigeria
The movie stars of the two countries engaged in a special soccer game on Thursday March 6 at the Baba Yara Stadium as part of Ghana’s 57th Independence Day anniversary celebrations. Koba Consults and Marbizila Company Limited, in collaboration with the Ghana Actors Guild (GAG) succeeded in drawing stars like Lil Win, Akroboto, Van Vicker, Prince David Osei and Bill Asamoah among others for the maiden soccer clash between the two sides. Shegun Arinze, Victor ‘Awilo Sharp Sharp’ Usuagwu, Mama Ajasco, Dave Sam and others featured for the Nigerians in a game which the Ghanaians won 3-1.
“It’s been an eye opener. It was difficult pulling all these stars together. Some had to abandon their sets to join in the event. We have accepted all the anomalies that surfaced along the line and we are hoping to improve in subsequent editions.
“We have purposed to do this annually.
The fun and unity the two sides exhibited clearly shows that the future is bright for the two countries. They usually meet on set, this is the very first time they have met on such a platform; and I must say it is commendable. We will take it a level higher in subsequent editions.
“I commend the Nigerians for coming in their numbers. The Ramzy Noahs, Emeka Ikes, Mercy Johnsons and others couldn’t make it due to busy schedules, but they were with us in spirit and have given us full assurance of making it in the return encounter later this year,” he told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS exclusively in a post match interview.
David Osei’s solo run in the first half ended in the opening goal for Ghana. He scored the goal after receiving a pass from Van Vicker in the 18-yard box. Ben Adusei made it two for the home side after the break, but the Nigerians pulled one back through Sopiriye Fiberesima.
Another opportunity came their way to cancel the lead but actress Toyin Aimakhn fired off target from the spot.
Big Akwasi Asamoah then made it three for Ghana.
The event was sponsored by Osons Chemists, Kings Express Travel and Tours and Asuogyaman Company Limited.
