Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, the founder of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has descended on the two main political parties in the country and warned them to “stop the political football on cocaine.”

In a statement shared on his Facebook page, the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the party said “we all lose when state institutions are weakened so much by partisan punches that they cannot solve problems such as this.”

Ghana is currently entangled in a cocaine saga which has caused the dissolution of the law enforcement agency, Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) by President Mahama.

The dissolution of the board follows the arrest of a Ghanaian woman by security operatives at the Heathrow Airport in London for drug trafficking.

Dr. Nduom also touched on the various problems Ghanaians go through when they travel outside the country.

“Three problems keep shadowing us as I travel outside the country to transact business – corruption in government, ebola and now, cocaine.”

He called on the general public to pay attention to the ‘corruption tag’ and help solve the problem before it sinks the nation down. “We solve that gargantuan problem or we sink together under its weight,” he added.

Below is the statement Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom posted on his Facebook page.

The truth is always important. Three problems keep shadowing us as I travel outside the country to transact business – corruption in government, ebola and now, cocaine. Everywhere I go, they ask for those who have been to West Africa in the past 21 days to identify themselves – no distinction between Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and West Africa. We should all take note. Anyone who has been an MP, Minister of State, Party official – CPP, PPP, NPP, GCPP, NDC, PNC and now business people in general must pay attention that the corruption tag. We solve that gargantuan problem or we sink together under its weight. And now the cocaine thing. Tell your friends in NPP and NDC to stop the political football on cocaine. We all lose when state institutions are weakened so much by partisan punches that they cannot solve problems such as this. We all stand to lose. Travel and see!
