Ghanaian woman carrying cocaine arrested at Heathrow Airport.
A 32-year-old Ghanaian woman has been arrested at the Heathrow Airport in London for drug trafficking. Nayeli Ametefeh was arrested by security operatives at the airport with cocaine weighing 12.kg.
Government has denied she was traveling with a diplomatic passport.
According to information given by officials, Nayeli holds a Ghanaian passport and an Austrian citizenship. Her Ghanaian and Austrian passport numbers are G0364497 and P4187659 respectively.
Nayeli who managed to go through screening procedures at the Kotoka International Airport without any problems has now been charged with attempting to import a class A drug to the UK.
Government has denied that the woman was carrying a diplomatic passport as earlier reported by a section of the media. She was alleged to have been traveling with a diplomatic passport and linked to President Mahama.
Communications minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has however rebuffed such reports by saying “she does not hold a diplomatic passport [and] she is not acquainted with the first family.”
In a Facebook post, Dr. Omane Boamah said “investigations have revealed the details of the lady arrested at Heathrow Airport London as follows:”
