Kwaw Kese remanded in prison custody for 2 weeks.
Controversial Hipife musician, Kwaw Kese has been remanded into prison custody for two weeks by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Circuit Court.
Kwaw, popularly known as Abodam was arrested by police in Kumasi for allegedly smoking a substance believed to be marijuana (wee).
The “Kwakwa” rapper faces a minimum of 10 years’ imprisonment if found guilty.
He was dragged to the Kumasi Central Prison in a police van where he will spend the next two weeks until he reappears in court.
Nana Kwasi Boaitey, the counsel for Kwaw Kese pleaded for bail. He argued that there was not enough evidence that the said substance was marijuana until it was confirmed by a laboratory test.
But the court presided over by Mr Justice William Boampong refused to grant bail. He was asked to reappear on December 8, 2014.
Kwaw Kese was arrested at a drinking spot, close to Plus Two pub around 11pm on Saturday at Nhyiaseo, a suburb of Kumasi.
According to police reports, he was smoking in an open place in front of a wine shop with friends when he was subsequently arrested by a police patrol team.
