Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has said the decision by Ghana’s High Commissioner in the UK to visit a Ghanaian woman arrested in London for drug trafficking is needless.

Nayele Ametefeh was arrested in London with cocaine weighing 12.kg.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, Victor Smith told Accra-based private radio station, Peace FM that officials will be sent to visit her.

“We are not going to defend the person…we don’t do that…We have arranged for some of our officials to go and have a 45 minute talk with her,” Victor Smith added.

However, Kwesi Pratt speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme said the visit is unnecessary.
“He should consider the situation before opening his mouth, but of course in this government everybody is a king Kong and everybody can say anything they want and everybody is talking by heart,” he said.

32-year-old Nayele Ametefeh was arrested by security operatives at the Heathrow Airport in London on November 10, 2014 with cocaine weighing 12.kg.

According to information given by officials, Nayele who holds a Ghanaian passport and an Austrian citizenship has been charged with attempting to import a class A drug to the UK.
