2 Killed in Tema Motorway Accident.
Police have confirmed that an accident that occurred on Christmas Day on the Tema Motorway has claimed two lives and left several others injured.
The sad incident was said to have occurred around 8:30 on Thursday morning.
Police say the accident involved a red Hyundai mini bus which was travelling from Acccra to Aflao in the Volta Region.
According to an eyewitness, the accident was caused by a tyre burst which forced the vehicle to veer off the road and somersaulted in the process.
There were 15 passengers on board and the other 13 are in critical condition. The survivors are currently being treated at the Tema General Hospital.
According to statistics from the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), 520 people died in road crashes in 3,512 accidents nationwide in the first quarter of 2014.
In 2013, 1,539 people lost their lives between January and September according to the NRSC.
