There is Food Security in Wa Municipality-Hon. Putiaha.
The Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Nuhu Issahaku Putiaha has allayed fears of the residents in his municipality of an impending food crisis.
According to him, despite the scanty rains experienced this year, the harvests that have been stored would be enough to cater for the food needs of the people.
Hon. Putiaha revealed this when he was addressing the chiefs and people of the Wa Municipality during this year’s farmers’ day celebration in Charia.
The chief of Charia, Naa Michael Danbambo Baga called on policy makers to take issues of agriculture seriously. He went further to call on the MCE to get the deplorable roads to the community rehabilitated.
A 45-year-old farmer, Mr. Tahiru Yahaya was adjudged the municipal farmer of the year. He was given a shale machine, bicycle, three cutlasses and a knapsack sprayer. A total of 20 farmers were awarded for distinguishing themselves in the agricultural sector.
The event was well attended by students, traditional leaders, NGOs and tourists who were there to witness the various items put on display.
