Ronaldo wins 2014 World Footballer of the Year
Christiano Ronaldo who won the Fifa Ballon d’Or award for the second successive time and his third on Monday in Zurich, Switzerland – said he wanted to become “one of the greatest players of all time.”
The Real Madrid and Portuguese forward polled more votes than his closers rival Lionel Messi after beating off competition from both Messi and Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
In the other awards, Joachim Loew won the Coach of the year award after winning the 2014 World cup with Germany topping coaches like Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone in the poll.
Colombia and Real Madrid star James Rodriguez on the night won the Puskas award for the best goal, a superb goal he scored against Uruguay during the 2014 World cup, Nadine Kessler of VfL Wolfsburg and Germany won the women’s Player of the Year award.
Christiano Ronaldo after receiving his award said: “I never thought that I would bring this trophy back home on three occasions and I want to win it again. I want to become one of the greatest players of all time,” Ronaldo told the audience.
