DR Congo wins bronze after penalty shoot-out


DR Congo beat uninspired hosts Equatorial Guinea 4-2 on penalty shoot-out after goalless draw in the third place AFCON game on Saturday.

Both teams came into the game to fight for a pride after their semi-final loss to Ghana and Ivory coast respectively.

DR Congo looks the better side by dominating play with a lot of attacking incursions into the final third of the Equatorial Guineans goal area but they failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

The host also had a chance to opened the scoring but Robert Kidiabi who was in post for the Congolese was at his best to safe the dangerous situation for his side.

The game failed to produce a goal in regulation time and in the post match penalty shoot-out, the host were beaten 4-2 by DR Congo as the Congolese wins their first AFCON medal in over 2 decades.
