The Black Stars of Ghana will take on the Elephant of Cote D’voire in the final of the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea later in the day.
It will be a tight clash as both teams look forward to tame each other for the trophy at stake but Ghana will be looking for a revenge whilst Cote D’voire want to stamp their authority on the Ghanaians.
The two teams met in the final in 1992 but the Elephants beat the Black Stars for the trophy in an 11-10 penalty shoot-out which happens to be the longest AFCON post-match penalty shoot-outs.
Ghana’s team will be boosted with the return of their inspirational captain Asamoah Gyan after he missed his side’s semi-final clash due to his hip injury but the Ivorians will miss their defensive midfielder Chiekh Tiote after picking an injury in his side’s last group game against Cameroon.
HEAD TO HEAD:
Ghana have met Cote D’voire 41 times with the Black Stars leading the park with 16 wins, lost 15 with 10 games ending in stalemate.
The last time the two teams met was in the 2010 AFCON hosted by Angola which the Ivorians posted a 3-1 scoreline against the Black Stars of Ghana.
