Management Committee chairman of the Local Black Stars team, Fred Pappoe has lauded the qualities of his CHAN team as he believes certain players in the local Black Stars team can play for the Black Stars proper.

The CHAN team is currently camping in Obuasi in preparation for the COSAFA tourney scheduled for 17th May, 2015 in South Africa.

But the Management Committee chairman believes that certain players in the Local Black Stars team can play for the main Black Stars.

“I believe that there are few players in the CHAN team who command places in any 21-man or 23-man team named for the main Black Stars team but of course, that is left to the discretion of the man Black Stars coach and to an extent, the coach of the CHAN (since he assists the Black Stars coach),” Pappoe said told Citi sports.

There has been several calls from local football pundits for a quota system for the local players with respect to the main Black Stars call ups.

But the experience football administrator disagrees with those claims by saying:

“Even though I believe some of the players are good for the main team, I do not also believe in the quota system. There are players who can break into the main Stars team and they have shown enough to play.

“I think that the coaches should pay more attention to the local league and the activities of the CHAN team. When that is done, they will be convinced of the talents around.”
