Asamoah Gyan scores in Shanghai SIPG massive away win
Ghana international, Asamoah Gyan was on target in Shanghai SIPG massive 2-1 away win over their cross town rivals Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese league on Sunday.
Gyan struck in the 65th minute to draw his side level after Tim Cahil had given the hosts the lead with a first half penalty.
Shanghai SIPG had crashed out of the Chinese FA Cup in midweek to Shenhua and they were looking to make amends as their quest to win the premier league title continues.
Their persistence paid off as Mohammed Sissoko ended up putting the ball in his own net with 18 minutes left to play.
Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side managed to hold onto the slim lead to the finish to ultimately pick up three vitals points on the hostile grounds of their noisy neighbours.
Shanghai SIPG remain top of the Chinese League just one point adrift second-placed Guangzhou Evergrande – who they play next – and with five other games to end the season.
