Nigeria beat Ghana 2-0


The Black Meteors of Ghana are on the brink of elimination from the ongoing All Africa Games after they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the Dream Team of Nigeria on Wednesday.

The Games being held in Congo Brazzaville saw Ghana outmuscled by Nigeria in the men’s football as their hope to defend the gold medal they won last four year in Mozambique might not come to pass.

In the game, Nigeria look better than Ghana as they dominated the Black Meteors team from onset but failed to hit the back of the net as the first half ended goalless.

But the second half was a different story, the Nigerians were delight to watch as the Ghanaian failed to curtailed their quick passing movements.

In the 55th minute, Aminu Umar profited from a swift counter before crossing to Ajayi, who tapped home for the opener, however 4 minutes to end the game Nigeria doubled their lead through Sokari after a wonderful assist from Azubuike Okechukwu.

The defeat leaves Ghana, the defending champions’ hope of progressing hanging by a thread after bagging just a point from two games. Nigeria will face Senegal on Saturday in the ultimate match. Senegal and Ghana have a point each.
