Asamoah Gyan makes injury return for Shanghai SIPG in stalemate with Shijiazhuang Yongchang
Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan made a return from injury to play in Shanghai SIPG’s 2-2 home draw with Shijiazhuang Yongchang on last Saturday.
The Black Stars captain who has been out in recent weeks with a muscle problem returned to play 20 minutes of the game.
Gyan came on in the 70th minute to replace Tobias Hysen as Shanghai SIPG aimed at holding their 2-1 lead at the time.
Wu Lei had scored a brace to edge Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side into a 2-1 lead by halftime.
But Zambian striker Jacob Mulenga struck late to complete his own brace to help his side earn a share of the spoils.
Shanghai SIPG thus lose further grounds in their pursuit of the Chinese Super League title with rivals Guangzhou Evergrande now stretching their lead at the top to four points with two games to the end of the season.
